Survivor Series 2017 Card Dramatically Changes

Original Survivor Series Card

So the Survivor Series original card was as follows:

  • Rollins & Ambrose vs. The Usos
  • Men’s 5-on-5 Elimination Match
  • Alexa Bliss vs. Natalya
  • Women’s 5-on-5 Elimination Match
  • The Miz vs. Baron Corbin
  • Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto
  • Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal

Raw Survivor Series Changes

On Raw this week we saw Tag Champions The Shield (Rollins and Ambrose) face off against The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro). This match came about after Cesaro & Sheamus were talking to Kurt Angle backstage near the start of the show claiming that they were the best chance of getting 1-up on Smackdown Live at Survivor Series.

This was a fast paced match with some decent high flying moves by Ambrose & Rollins on what you’d expect from these two. Towards the end of the match New Day’s music hits and they appear at the top of the stairs in the crowd. They go on to spout some funny English sayings and begin to say that this is #underseige part 2. At that point, Kurt Angle and the Raw locker room head down to this ring and surround it. Eventually jumping the barrier and head up to where New Day were. At this point, in the ring, the match is still going on and Sheamus rolls up Rollins for the pin 1…2…3 and NEW Tag Team Champions, The Bar.

No-one could have predicted the outcome of this match. Being so close to Survivor Series it would be hard to think that they would change the card so late on. However the angle they have used suggests that they will be going with a New Day vs. Shield 3-on-3 match to add to Survivor Series with Roman Reigns returning next week. Which personally I would like to see.

So this match changes, it’s now The Bar vs. The Usos at Survivor Series.

Smackdown Live Survivor Series Changes

On Smackdown Live for the main event we saw AJ Styles vs Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship. This was an epic match in which Jinder Mahal was made to look really strong and dominant. However the end result surprised us all, the same as the Raw changes.

What I don’t understand is why they hyped up the Brock vs Jinder match with multiple promos from Jinder, The Singhs, Paul Heyman & Brock Lesnar. This suggests to me that both changes were a last minute decision and there could be something big going to happen at the PPV.

Could these changes be linked to the final member of Smackdown Live team? Could it be Jinder Mahal? Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn? I guess we’ll find out.
